Reduce cost
Get more. Pay less. There is significant pressure on all budget categories in businesses. IT is expensive, and for most companies, it is a cost of doing business, not an investment in competitive advantage. A changing environment often requires new IT capabilities, which may create lock-in problems, and almost always causes budgetary grief.
Often companies are forced to upgrade (for example, from Windows XP to Windows Vista) because the existing product will no longer be supported. So in addition to new software, new hardware is also required. And to make matters worse, other applications that worked fine have to be replaced by updated versions that run on the new platform, or, in some cases, won’t work at all.
